First approaches to the excuses
The experimintation along the term can be distributed or classified into 3 main phases or stages, these were: Contextualization and informative exploration, visual appreciation and interactive testing.
Contextualization and Informative Exploration
During the first class sessions we got introduced to the two excuses from which we would work on, New forms of painting & The object uses and transformations. We registered some artistic exponents that changed the way in which art was presented and inverted the convetional art patterns of previous times such as Banksy, Marcel Duchamp, Meret Oppenheim, among others.
Visual Appreciation
Teachers showed us several artworks that employed and exemplified the use of the excuses, we could use them as references in our own pieces. We did the visit to the museum, there we could witness different objects with background messages and intentions and learn more on how could we modify an object in order to picture or show a totally different perspective to communicate or criticize.
Interactive Testing
With teachers advice, we tried out new forms of making art such as the stencil technique. We were guided on our first manual constructions by building sculptures out of reciclable objects. We could identify the conditions & criteria required for a proper production and those elements that were useful in conceptual and symbolic terms.
